Calling all foodies!! Napa Valley’s culinary passion rivals its passion for wine. With our great growing conditions for almost everything, farm to fork seems to be the trend. Some of the top chefs of Napa will prepare exquisite bites to pair with different wines for a flavor explosion. An experience your pallet will never forget.
Sonoma is where it all started. California was founded right on the quaint Sonoma Square in front of the San Francisco mission. Venture up the Sonoma Valley to the wineries with a variety of our local favorites. The variety of grapes grown in the valley expands beyond the typical French varietals with Italian and Spanish varietals as well. Fabulous family owned estates await your adventure, all offering an experience as unique as their wines.
The Sonoma coast may be the most breathtaking area of California. From the inland valleys, wind down the vineyard lined road, and cross old bridges towering above the Russian River. This area is where some of the best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards meet the coastal redwoods before continuing westward to the Pacific Ocean. The river meets the Pacific in the town of Jenner where a collection of wildlife awaits your camera including seals, pelicans, and blue herons.
Healdsburg is the center of northern Sonoma County. The charming square is covered with great restaurants, tasting rooms, and boutique shops. From Healdsburg it is easy to access three valleys, each specializing in varietals specific to their terrior. Russian River is known for award-winning Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The old vine Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc of the Dry Creek Valley are exquisite. Alexander Valley is ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
In many parts of the country, caves are reserved for bats. In wine country, you’re more likely to find wine barrels in caves. Winemakers have long known that the pristine, protected conditions of these underground caverns offer an ideal cool and humid climate for the wine-aging process. Wine tasters, meanwhile, have discovered the other cool factors of caves – touring and sipping. Many local wineries open their caves to visitors offering sit down tastings or guided walks, and some invite you to taste straight from the barrel. Bats, however, aren’t invited to the party.
One of the best sounds is the popping of a champagne bottle. California has some of the best sparkling wine producers in the world. Both Napa and Sonoma counties cover all your bubbly desires. From Brut to Rose to Sweet, they all offer quite a treat. Spend the day toasting with friends at a variety of sparkling wine producers.
Northern California is truly an oasis of breweries. Not only are the wineries here world renown…. but breweries have built quite a reputation for themselves as well. Some of the beers are enjoyed nationally, while others are local tap rooms. Venture to multiple breweries to fulfill all your hop headed desires.
